Amy McIlvaine has nearly 25 years of experience in business leadership and organizational management, client relations and customer service, behavioral health process improvement and change management, the business of behavioral health distance learning applications, and is widely recognized for her work in behavioral health training and development. As Director of Training and Education for NIATx at the University of Wisconsin-Madison—one of the nation’s premier behavioral health process improvement organizations– Amy provides technical assistance and practical coaching to behavioral health providers through Learning Collaboratives, designs highly customized training programs, and facilitates trainings throughout the United States. Amy developed the nationally renowned NIATx Change Leader Academy designed to teach healthcare professionals how to lead behavioral health organizational teams through successful change in today’s ever changing behavioral health landscape. Amy has developed NIATx Collaboratives training behavioral health companies with modules on Leadership Development, Integration of Primary Care and Substance Abuse, Integration of Federally Qualified Health Care Centers and Substance Abuse, Aging and Disabilities Resource Center, Wisconsin Mental Health and BHBusiness; Mastering Essential Business Operations. Partnering with the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) she designs custom on-line training courses for behavioral health and addiction treatment providers in business operations covering the most complex challenges behavioral health executives face every day– Affiliations, Mergers and Acquisitions, Improving Your Third-party Billing and Compliance, Costing Out Your Services, Strategic Business Planning and Innovation and Design Thinking. Amy has consulted and trained with local, state and national regulatory agencies, behavioral health managed care organizations, as well as providers around the country. Prior to working for NIATx, Amy’s considerable corporate business experience included a leadership position with the Fortune 500 company ARAMARK, where her work with American Family Insurance led to it being designated an ARAMARK Center of Excellence. Under Amy’s guidance, the Fluno Center for Executive Education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison was ranked #1 in the world for food and accommodations for three consecutive years (2003-2005) by the Financial Times of London. Amy also worked as a chef’s assistant in Switzerland. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
